Instructions Before, during, and After Orthodontic Treatment

Before Orthodontic Treatment

Overview:

Orthodontic treatment is a long-term and phased treatment, with each step dependent on the previous step, so we ask that you understand the treatment plan and the requirements of each stage to obtain a good result.

What you want to know before orthodontic treatment

  • The patient must express his opinion and explain this opinion to the doctor so that he can participate in the treatment method and the doctor is fully aware of what the patient is complaining about.
  • The periodic review is usually every 4 weeks for a period of two years, according to the treatment plan. Try to coordinate the time, because failure to adhere to appointments may be the main reason for prolonging the duration of treatment and causing unwanted complications.
  • All teeth affected by cavities must be treated before starting treatment, and any temporary filling must be replaced with a permanent filling, in order to prevent the multiplication of cavities during orthodontic treatment and thus their loss. It is preferable to leave the installation of crowns and bridges until after the end of treatment.
  • The gums must be in a healthy condition without inflammation or bleeding through commitment to daily brushing and dental care.
  • Solid and sticky foods should also be avoided during the braces period.

During treatment:

  • After installing the braces, it is preferable for the patient to stay away from solid or sticky foods such as bone nuts, chewing gum, and chocolate, as they may lead to the device breaking and thus prolonging the treatment period.
  • The patient must double the degree of concern for his seductive health
Because the orthodontic device can help food residues stick or accumulate, causing gum disease, tooth decay or white spots (as the beginning of tooth decay), the appearance of bad breath in the mouth, and failure of orthodontic treatment later.
  • The patient must adhere to the instructions given to him by the doctor regarding how to use the treatment devices.

Because part of orthodontic treatment depends entirely on the patient’s cooperation with the doctor by wearing elastics, head belts, and other devices recommended by the doctor, any delay leads to prolongation of treatment or failure to achieve the desired result.

Do not forget …!

You must take care of the cleanliness of your teeth and between the wires by using a regular brush, a ProxiBrush, and toothpaste after every meal, or at least before sleeping and after waking up, and following the correct methods for caring for your teeth and gums.

post treatment:

  • After orthodontic treatment, you must wear a retainer to keep the teeth in place, and do not stop using it unless recommended by your doctor.

Orthodontic treatment is a joint effort between you and the doctor, so cooperate with him for a better smile.
